Every year, more than 2,000 Volunteers work together to make The Walk for Hunger a fun, safe, and successful event. By volunteering with us at the 49th Walk, you help change lives all over the state for the better.

Volunteer in the morning, the afternoon, or all day – it’s up to you. Whether you are just beginning or continuing your commitment to helping hungry people, we have something for everyone!

Volunteers can fundraise just as Walkers do – every dollar makes a difference. When you raise $500 or more, you become part of the Heart & Sole Circle and receive a special Heart & Sole volunteer t-shirt.

Volunteer Hours Policy

Project Bread is grateful to all of our volunteers and our staff is happy to validate volunteer hours on Walk Day. Please bring your volunteer service form to the Volunteer Tent on the Boston Common or to the Volunteer Tent located at Arsenal Park in Watertown.

If you are seeking credit for volunteer hours, please understand that the Walk for Hunger & 5K Run is a fundraising event. Please consider your contribution to all of the organizations who depend on funds raised through this event. Your time is important but we're counting on you to help us reach our fundraising goal.

Volunteer Positions

Be a Check-In Tent Volunteer

Walkers and runners will need to visit a Check-In Tent on Walk Morning before crossing the starting lines. Our check-in volunteers will collect any day-of donations being turned in and will provide participants with a Walk Day Guide, Walk Button, and Walk Sticker. You will help kick off their entire Walk experience!
