Volunteer Opportunities

Help for hungry people
This winter, many families will be hit hard by the high cost of food and utilities. As a Volunteer, you can help those who may be making an impossible choice between heating their homes and feeding their families.

Looking for ways to give back to your community? Here are a fews ways to help:

Volunteer

There are many volunteer opportunities either with Project Bread or with one of Project Bread's funded agencies. Here are pages with information about volunteer opportunities:

Plan a food drive

Organizing a food drive is a great way to get your friends, classmates, or co-workers involved in alleviating hunger by supporting a local food program. The best foods to collect are non-perishable goods that will provide nutrition from each food group. For more information on the types of food to collect, download the You need Adobe PDF Reader to view this document. USDA flyer "Balance your Gift."

To find a food pantry near you where you can bring goods, call our Volunteer Hotline at 617-239-2546 or email volunteer@projectbread.org.

Donate goods to an emergency food program

Do you work at a store or restaurant and have a large supply of food that you want to give away? While all food programs accept non-perishable goods, some soup kitchens and other programs are able to take perishable goods as well.

To find a food pantry or soup kitchen near you, call our Volunteer Hotline at 617-239-2546 or email volunteer@projectbread.org.

Plan a fun holiday event for a serious cause

With the holiday season quickly approaching, organizations, employees, and families across Massachusetts will be looking for ways to give back to their community. Whether you want to create a social event that benefits a good cause, put together a fundraising activity during your corporate party, or simply do something to help members of the community, Project Bread can help.

Visit our fun events page for more information on creating your own fundraising event, or visit our favors page to create a Project Bread party favor for your event.

Donate to Project Bread

If you can’t commit to volunteering but still want to help, make a donation. Your contribution will help provide hot meals and bags of groceries for families in need. Make a donation.
