2009 Status Report on Hunger

Each year, Project Bread releases a status report on hunger in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

In this report, we recognize that the scope of the problem of hunger has changed. We will present the case for shaping our hunger solutions with a view that keeps the individual in mind, while also seeks to touch entire populations of food-insecure people. This is a time for a smart and strategic investment in solutions that work.

With the rising cost of food, more people than ever before in our communities are struggling to put food on the table. Project Bread's mission is to alleviate, prevent, and ultimately end hunger right here in Massachusetts.

Because of the extraordinary support Project Bread receives — predominantly from private citizens — we are able to keep our expenses very low. When you donate online to Project Bread, your gift goes where it is needed most — to feed hungry people in Massachusetts. Project Bread is proud to allocate 80% of our funds directly to help the hungry through emergency food grants and hunger prevention programs.
