Privacy Policy

We value your privacy

Project Bread has created this privacy policy to explain why we collect some information and how we will protect your privacy for transactions conducted in person, via email, via postal mail, and through our website. We encourage you to read the entire policy.

What information we collect and how we use that information
Our registration forms require users to give us contact information that may include name, email address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and similar information. We do not request or store sensitive information from our visitors, such as credit card or social security numbers.

We will not sell your name, address or phone number. However, we may trade information with organizations of a similar interest, including non-profits and for-profit businesses. Please contact us at any time if you do not want your personal information included in a trade (see instructions on how to contact us at the end of this policy statement.)

All submitted financial information is used only to complete the specified transactions. All paper documents containing personal financial information are regularly shredded. All electronically transmitted financial transactions are done via secure encrypted transmission. We will not sell, rent, or trade your financial information.

E-mail
If you have given us your e-mail address, you may receive e-mail from us regarding urgent action alerts and volunteer opportunities and events (unless noted otherwise when you supplied your e-mail address). Please contact us at any time if you wish your e-mail address to be excluded from any future email mailings (see instructions on how to contact us at the end of this policy statement.)

We will not sell, rent or trade your e-mail address.

Facebook App - Data Deletion Request

If you have connected your Participant Center to Facebook in order to create a linked Facebook Fundraiser to your Personal Fundraising Page, as a participant one of our peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns - The Walk for Hunger or Holiday Fundraiser - you can request that your data be deleted once you remove the app. The app users can do this by going to their Facebook profile and clicking the Send Request button on the Settings & Privacy > Settings > Apps and Websites page.

Website
Most of our website is accessible without entering any personal information. However, some activities, such as all financial transactions for our Store, Membership and online Donations, require the submission of personal and/or financial information. Other activities may require the collection of your e-mail address. Personal information, financial information and e-mail addresses collected via our web site are governed by the relevant parts of this privacy policy. By visiting our web site, www.projectbread.org, you are accepting the practices described in this privacy policy.

Internet Protocol (IP) Address
We collect an IP address from all visitors to our site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our site, analyze trends, track users' movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Use of "Cookies"
We may use cookies to enhance your experience while using our site. Cookies are pieces of information that some Web sites transfer to the computer that is browsing that website and are used for record-keeping purposes at many websites. Use of cookies makes web-surfing easier by performing certain functions such as saving your passwords, your personal preferences regarding your use of the particular website and to make sure you don't see the same ad repeatedly. Many consider the use of cookies to be an industry standard.

Your browser is probably set to accept cookies. However, if you would prefer not to receive cookies, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies. If you choose to have your browser refuse cookies, it is possible that some areas of our site will not function properly when you view them.

Security
Project Bread’s website has industry standard high encryption security measures in place. We go to great lengths to protect the confidentiality and integrity of any personal information you share with us over the Internet.

Project Bread treats personal data such as credit card information as critical assets that must be guarded at all times against loss and unauthorized access. As such, we do not store your credit card information.

Furthermore, to ensure the security of credit card and personal information, this website employs industry-standard security methods, including the Secure Socket Layers (SSL) protocol for the encryption of transmitted data. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

Tell-A-Friend
If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask them for the friend's name and email address. Project Bread will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the website. Project Bread stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email.
