Research and Evaluation Consultant – Cape Verdean Creole

To assist us in meeting our mission, Project Bread – The Walk for Hunger is seeking a Research and Evaluation Consultant (R&E Consultant) to support with data collection in Cape Verdean Creole, which will include the recruitment, facilitation, and transcription of a focus group and collecting survey data.

The Role: As part of an ongoing study, the R&E Consultant will support focus group and phone survey data collection in Cape Verdean Creole. For the focus group, the R&E Consultant will recruit participants, facilitate the focus group, and transcribe the recording of the focus group. The R&E Consultant will also collect phone survey data in Cape Verdean Creole.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and facilitate one focus group in Cape Verdean Creole.
  • Transcribe the focus group recording.
  • Collect phone survey data in Cape Verdean Creole.
  • Work within a team and attend or convene meetings as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Fluency (reading, writing, speaking) in Cape Verdean Creole and English is required.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous experience facilitating interviews or focus groups is highly desirable. Training will be provided, if needed.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Commitment to social justice.

 

Time/compensation: The R&E Consultant will receive a $2,000 flat rate for the consultancy. The rate covers the focus group, which includes the recruitment, facilitation, and transcription of the focus group, as well as, the phone surveys. In addition, this rate covers and associated costs, such as transportation, with performing these services. The estimated number of hours per week is 3-5.

 

Duration: The consultancy is expected to commence in January 2023 and continue through March 2023.  

 

Location: The Project Bread office is located in East Boston (public-transit accessible). The R&E Consultant will need to be available off-site for one focus group. The remaining tasks may be conducted remotely or in-person at the Project Bread office.
