Clouds were full in the sky, but there were sunny smiles all around at last week’s Interfaith Mini-Walk for Hunger in Westwood. Co-chaired by Connie Rizzoli and Jeff Greenwald, the Interfaith Walk kicked off it’s thirteenth year with young adult volunteers leading people to make care packages for individuals experiencing homelessness and collecting food for local food pantries. People gathered from all over to learn about food insecurity and walk to raise funds and awareness.

Before starting out on the 3-mile neighborhood walk, opening remarks were delivered by:

  • Jeff Greenwald, Co-chair

  • Lou Rizzoli, Co-Chair

  • Kellie Vehlies Beretta, Project Bread

  • Rabbi Karen Citrin, Temple Beth David

  • Pastor JT Hills, First Parish of Westwood

  • Dr. Mazen Duwaji, The Islamic Center of New England

Afterward, the teams set out and came back to have snacks and chats at Temple Beth David. With the Walk completed and 15 bags of food in hand, the Interfaith Mini-Walk for Hunger was able to raise $14,098 through sponsorship and peer to peer fundraising, all of which heads back to our efforts here at Project Bread.
