The Walk for Hunger & 5K Run will be held rain or shine!

What to bring

  • Cash & check donations: Turn them in at a registration tent on the Boston Common or at Arsenal Park.
  • Water bottle: Help us be kind to the environment. There will be water at all checkpoints so that you can fill up your own bottle (cups will be provided for Walkers without bottles).
  • Cell phone: Have a meet-up plan in place with your group in case you are separated. Also be sure to post about your Walk on social media using hashtag #MakeHungerHistory!
  • Be prepared if it's sunny: Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
  • Be prepared if it's cool or rainy: Dress in layers, bring a raincoat. (Check the weather in the morning!)
  • Be kind to your feet: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring an extra pair of socks, a stash of band aids, and Vaseline for blister control.
  • Bring your friends! They can register on Walk Day.

What NOT to bring

  • Dogs and other furry friends: For the safety of the animals and other participants, animals will not be allowed. 20 miles is an unsafe distance for animals to walk and they will not be allowed on shuttle buses. (Service animals are permitted.)
  • Things with wheels: Bikes, scooters, roller blades, roller skates, hoverboards, skateboards, etc. Parts of the route will be very crowded with people. This is for the safety of all participants. (Wheelchairs & strollers are permitted.)
