Dear Friends and Family,

On Sunday, May 2, we will walk 20 miles to complete our 24th Walk for Hunger! In the continuing sluggish economy, hunger remains a serious problem in our state. The Walk for Hunger on the first Sunday in May draws thousands of walkers and supports the on-going efforts of Project Bread throughout the year to serve many communities across the state. We are privileged to be part of this group each year.

As is our tradition, on the day of the Walk for Hunger we walk?rain or shine?and complete the full 20-mile route. We also make as large a monetary donation to Project Bread as we can. In addition, we rely on your generosity to augment our contribution. Last year we set a goal of $6,000, and we collected $6,103! This year we would be thrilled to match last year?s success.

The collective generosity of our sponsors enables us to make a meaningful contribution to people who are having a hard time making ends meet. Food banks and soup kitchens are stretched to the limit. Your support will help ensure that people can be fed.

We are enclosing a fact sheet from Project Bread that highlights its many efforts to combat and eradicate hunger in our state. For more information, please visit the Project Bread website at www.projectbread.org to read the 2009 Status Report on Hunger and many other informative materials on Project Bread?s work.

We accept pledges of all amounts?from $5 to $1000. A $5 pledge will provide 10 people at a soup kitchen with a bowl of hot soup and a sandwich. A $25 pledge will help three families enjoy a holiday meal next winter. A $50 pledge will provide people at a soup kitchen with a bowl of soup and a hot sandwich. A $100 pledge will permit a food pantry to give a week?s supply of groceries for 5 families in need. A $250 pledge will ensure that 50 families receive a hot, nutritious dinner at a weekly supper program. A $500 pledge will allow a mobile food pantry to distribute food to a community in desperate need. A $1000 pledge will supply an emergency food program with more than 6,000 pounds of food.

We have been deeply moved by your generosity in the past and ask you once again to make a pledge on our behalf if you are able. Thank you so much.

Peace and love,

Tina Jameson and Martha Bloom
