Programs worth walking for: Project Bread's FoodSource Hotline

How Project Bread supports your neighbors.

Despite working long hours, too many single mothers are still coming up short: 35% of their households are food insecure, nationally.

Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline is a critical statewide resource that enables Massachusetts residents to access hunger relief resources in their communities, and provides step-by-step support to enroll in SNAP.

Our FoodSource Hotline counselors assists callers from all walks of life, and one story they hear over and over is, “I didn’t know I was eligible for SNAP benefits because I’m working.” Educational outreach is an integral component of the Hotline: counselors raise awareness about eligibility for at-risk groups and communities, and eliminate the stigma around asking for help by providing an anonymous way to connect with resources.

Their efforts have led to an 80% increase of over-the-phone SNAP application assistance in 2015 over 2014—which means more people in need are getting a hand up, out of food insecurity.

Your Walk makes this possible.

If you or someone you know is struggling to put food on the table, please call Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333.
