Waltham Fields Community Farm promotes local agriculture and food access through their farming operations and educational programs, using practices that are socially, ecologically, and economically sustainable.
Waltham Fields encourages healthy relationships between people, their food supply, and the land from which it grows. Project Bread supports their food access and hunger relief program, to cover costs of growing, washing, storing and distributing fresh vegetables to Food For Free, healthy cooking and nutrition programs, their Outreach Market, and low-income CSA shareholders.
“Good-byes at the Outreach Market are bittersweet. I often find myself saying ‘See you next season!’ while truly hoping that people won’t be in need of our service by the time we get going next summer. This year we asked people if they'd like to voluntarily leave an email address to be notified when the Market re-opens next year. One of our regular customers declined and said instead that she would be sure to stop by next year to see us and say 'hello', but that she hoped that she wouldn't need our market next year,” says Dan Roberts, Field Manager of Waltham Fields, who oversees the Food Access programs.
