According to the national search firm managed by the Project Bread Board of Directors, talented individuals from across the country applied for the leadership role.
Worcester, MA – July 21, 2017 – Congressman Jim McGovern led his 4th Annual Summer Food Rocks Tour throughout the 2nd Congressional District this past Friday to raise awareness about the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The Summer Food Service Program is a federally-funded nutrition program that provides free meals to children ages 18 and under when school is not in session. In Massachusetts, the program is administered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) with support from the Child Nutrition Outreach Program (CNOP) at Project Bread.

(Boston, MA – May 8, 2017)— Project Bread, a pioneer of innovative programs and initiatives designed to eradicate hunger, yesterday held its 49th annual Walk for Hunger, the oldest continual pledge walk in the nation and largest one-day fundraiser to ease local hunger. Since 1969, the Walk for Hunger has received support from an estimated 1.2 million participants and has raised over $100 million in funding for grants statewide for emergency food programs, schools, summer food programs, community health centers, farmer’s markets, community suppers and urban agriculture programs.
(Boston, MA—January 27, 2017) —What sets apart Project Bread’s Chefs in Schools [CIS] program is the successful relationship that its Chef Educators have with cafeteria kitchens and the school’s student population. Mayor Linda M. Tyer, school district officials and representatives from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, a program sponsor, were on hand Thursday for an interactive cooking demonstration featuring chefs Sam Icklan and Guy Koppe, with an assist from Crosby Elementary School Principal Aaron Dean.
Project Bread will honor Boston philanthropist Pam Trefler, founder and trustee of The Trefler Foundation, at its second annual Fall Harvest Fest in support of Chefs in Schools on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Artists for Humanity EpiCenter. Guests will enjoy a one-of-a-kind school meal experience presented by Project Bread’s Chef Educators; a five-course tasting menu inspired by Chefs in Schools meals being served around the state in cafeterias through the Chefs in Schools program
(BOSTON– July 13, 2016) Each day this summer more than 60,000 children will enjoy a free healthy breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner at one or more of the 1000 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sites operating across Massachusetts. The SFSP is a federally funded, state administered and locally operated nutrition program that provides meals at no cost to youth ages 18 and under when school is not in session.
Working in partnership with Project Bread and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Child Nutrition Outreach Program (CNOP), Partners is awarding $35,000 to help support the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) in communities throughout Massachusetts.
