On June 1, 2017, Ellen Parker stepped down as CEO and Executive Director of Project Bread, a leading statewide anti-hunger organization committed to providing Massachusetts residents with reliable access to nutritious food.
"Ellen's intelligence, vision and drive shaped Project Bread as an organization noted for innovation, independence, and a focus on public health," said Dr. Ronald E. Kleinman, Chairman, Project Bread Board of Directors. "During her 20-year tenure, Ellen worked tirelessly on behalf of the organization and those that it serves. Her vision, pioneering spirit and drive will be her legacy, along with the long list of 'firsts' during her time here."
The Board of Directors has retained the services of an outside firm to conduct a national search for Ellen's successor. As the Executive Director Emerita, Ellen will continue in an advisory capacity during the transition to a new Executive Director.
